Delegation Eau De Vie Rar Download
One of my favorite albums at the end of the 70’s, the golden decade for R’n’B. Elektor Sdr Software Mac. A sweet bouncy groover – one of the rare albums of modern soul cut by the Delegation! The group in this incarnation are a trio – Ray Patterson, Ricky Bailey, and Bruce Dunbar on vocals – stripped-down harmonically, a perfect fit for the album’s groove-heavy arrangements.
The album’s got the same warm finish, with a touch of jazz, that you might find in some of the Arista modern soul albums from the same era – infused with a bit more of a club approach on a few of the more uptempo cuts. From beginning to end, the album is a delightful listen, perfectly blending R&B, Disco and Funk. Group founder and lead singer Rick Bailey is in top form here and his voice works in every setting.
Remember that the year was 1979 and Disco was still the sound that dominated the air waves. So it’s no surprise that many of the tracks here are aimed at the dance floors.
“ Heartache No. 9”, which became a minor radio hit, is late 1970’s R&B at it’s best, as is “ Sho Nuff Sold On You”. Slaying Excel Dragons Pdf Free here.
“ One More Step To Take” is another great dance record. “ You and I” is an up tempo highlight on the album and received substantial radio play to also become a hit on both sides of the Atlantic.

“ Put A Little Love on Me”, “ (Darling) I Think About You” and “ Stand Up (Reach For The Sky)” are also funky R&B songs that could have been pulled from the Philly sound vaults. Delegation’s talents were not limited to only Dance and up tempo songs. The real hidden gem on “Eau De Vie” is “ Blue Girl”, a spine tingling and achingly beautiful mid tempo ballad that borrows a bit from Delegation’s 1977 Top 5 smash “ Oh Honey”.
Rick Bailey is a great singer and is perfectly under stated, using his voice as an instrument of beauty. While “Blue Girl” did not become a pop hit, it has since 1979 been some what of a cult classic, receiving plenty of air play on quite storm formats and is a staple for classic R&B stations. “ Welcome To My World” is the other mid tempo ballad on “Eau De Vie” that should have been a hit. “ Eau De Vie” is an album that should be treasured so we can marvel at how beautiful the music that was made in the late 1970’s really was. Big Thanks to Big Break Records for re-mastering this long out of print masterpiece, which was a much sought after item for crate diggers and collectors.
As is always the case with a BBR re-master, the sound is great, the liner notes are fascinating and include a must have interview with Rick Bailey. And let’s not forget those amazing bonus tracks. There are 5 of them here.
“ Heartache No. 9” and “ Put A Little Love on Me” are here in their very rare extended 12” Dance Versions, previously only available on a very limited and impossible to find vinyl releases. “ You and I”, “ Heartache No. 9” and “ Put A Little Love on Me” are also presented here in their single versions.
A treasure for any R&B collector and a golden discovery for those that never heard of Delegation. Len Coley and Roddy Harris formed DELEGATION in Birmingham, during the mid 70’s later adding Jamaican born Ricky Bailey whose voice was to give them added flair on lead helping them to compete in the competitive UK Soul Market.
The Group worked with one of the UK’s most prolific hit makers of the 70’s and 80’s, Ken Gold, responsible for masterminding The Real Thing as well as writing and producing for artists such as The Nolans, Liquid Gold and Billy Ocean who secured a deal with State Records after which the group released a few UK singles with moderate success. However, when Oh Honey hit the US charts in 1979 it scored an incredibly impressive top 50 US Pop chart position and smoothly grooved all the way to #6 in the US R&B charts helping the album enter the Billboard Hot 200 and make #8 on the US R&B album chart. DELEGATION later moved to Ariola Records while changing their lineup with Len Coley being replaced with Bruce Dunbar, a Broadway Musical singer who starred in the musical “Hair” before joining the band, bringing with him his captivating falsetto, so well suited to DELEGATION’s smooth funky sound.
Once they had drafted in the arranging talents of keyboard virtuoso, Lynton Naismith, DELEGATION went to work on ‘Eau De Vie’ which would go on to become their highest selling album achieving a Gold Record status in 1980. Notable songs on this album include the groovy first single, PUT A LITTLE LOVE ON ME full of raw Funk bass lines and smooth Lynton Naismith organ paired with dazzling and driving yet subtle guitar licks giving it a slight Calypso groove. This winning formula was continued into the second single YOU AND I, with the guitar coming forward and the group really showcasing their vocal chemistry from the opening. DELEGATION turned up the disco for HEARTACHE No 9 adding a powerful string and horn section to a track that is currently receiving an overdue renaissance on the UK club scene.
